Bedazzling is Bringing Maximalism Back to Beauty

Analysts at Spate say the ‘bedazzling’ trend has grown 180.1% year-over-year with nails emerging as the most approachable beauty application.

Ring the bell, school’s back in session. And consumers aren’t “it” if they’re not “bedazzling.”

Shortly after news of Dolly Parton’s passing, Taylor Swift said the late and great country icon was “true grace and true grit” all in one “dazzling” person.

Apparently, bedazzling is the latest fad.

Analysts at Spate say the “bedazzling” trend has grown 180.1% year-over-year and has medium popularity, with TikTok owning 73.3% of the Popularity Share, up 300.6% year-over-year. It receives 109,500 average monthly Google searches, 44.8 million average weekly TikTok views, and 11,600 average weekly Instagram likes.

On Search, nails (4,400 average monthly searches) emerge as the most approachable beauty application, while Vaseline (1,900) is the top related brand, suggesting interest in both bedazzled products and DIY customization. On TikTok, lip products (2.1 million average weekly views), perfume (1.6 million) and blush (1.0 million) are the top beauty formats associated with the trend, showing how consumers are bringing sparkle into everyday beauty.

Whimsical Aesthetic

The trend also has tied to Back to School (371,300), as users customize makeup and school supplies into personalized pieces (1.4 million). Its links with “bling bling” (2.4 million), girly (623,400) and fairy aesthetics (371,300) point to a playful, feminine, maximalist approach to self-expression.

This maximalist mindset, analysts say, also extends to the growing whimsical aesthetic, which has increased 81.6% year-over-year. With 200,000 average monthly Google searches, 55.2 million average weekly TikTok views, and 92,700 average weekly Instagram likes, the trend is translating into beauty through makeup tutorials (702,600), particularly eyeshadow (1.1 million), while perfume (587,100) offers another avenue for sensory self-expression. Its connections to fairy (1.8 million), whimsigoth (1.5 million), and maximalist aesthetics (1.1 million) reinforce a growing appetite for beauty that feels imaginative, fantastical, and anything but minimal.
